Throughout my 40 year career in wealth management, it has been totally appropriate to use the phrase “the recent tax law changes” as a way to start a conversation to motive a donor to consider taking action. I have used this phrase as a way to differentiate an introduction of service, as a title to a speaking event and as motivation a to consider gift planning. The reason for it’s use is that a session of Congress seldom does not produce some tax law change, even if these are minor, and most folks are not current on how these changes might affect them unless they have been proactive in their planning. So exploring how recent tax law changes affect individuals, families and the organizations and causes they care about is an annual undertaking. Do you know how the recent tax law changes will affect you?
